The Spring 2024 League operates under the following format:
In previous leagues, characters were grouped together into duos, but the Spring 2024 League will focus entirely on individual performance.
As such, players will be rewarded points every match they participate in, which will then be totaled up to determine their place in the overall standings.
Players will be rewarded for winning the board, stars collected, and coins collected. The point format for regular season play is as follows:
Player | Placement | Stars | Coins |
---|---|---|---|
Player 1 | 1st Place | 3 stars | 35 coins |
Player 2 | 2nd Place | 2 stars | 15 coins |
Player 3 | 3rd Place | 1 star | 50 coins |
Player 4 | 4th Place | 0 stars | 60 coins |
Player | Placement Points | Stars (Points) | Coins | Total Points |
---|---|---|---|---|
Player 1 | Win: 250 points | 3 x 120 = 360 points | 35 points | 645 points |
Player 2 | 2nd Place: 100 points | 2 x 120 = 240 points | 15 points | 355 points |
Player 3 | 3rd Place: 75 points | 1 x 120 = 120 points | 50 points | 245 points |
Player 4 | 4th Place: 50 points | 0 x 120 = 0 points | 60 points | 110 points |
New this season is the introduction of a Duel Week, which will happen between weeks 4 and 5. Instead of one normal 50-turn game, there will be 4 1v1s played instead using the Mario Party 3 “Duel” mode.
A duel win will net each player 250 points, which is a big opportunity for lower placed players to earn some extra points before playoffs. Points will ONLY be awarded for wins in Duel matches, coins and remaining life won't have any impact on points during this week.
Playoffs will be run in a two-phase system: A last-chance style qualifier for the bottom four players to make it to the second round of playoffs, and a semi-finals where the top 4 players will join those who qualified from the last-chance qualifier for a shot at the title.
Winning a game will guarantee a spot in the second round, but a final duel will be performed to determine finalized seeding for the semi-finals, with the winner of this final match advancing in 5th, and the loser advancing in 6th.
5th and 6th will then join the Top 4 players in two groups of 3, with the top 2 in each group moving on to the Grand Finals.
Question: “But how are you going to run a Mario Party Match with only 3 people per game?”
Answer: Simple answer: I won't. In each semi-final match, 7th and 8th place players will join one final time for a chance to wreak havoc.
Question: “What if they win?”
Answer: Only valid players can move forward, so in the case of them winning or claiming a Top 2 spot, the 2 highest placements from valid players (ex. 2nd and 3rd) will move on, but it gives them one more chance to win and one more chance for fans of each character to support their favorite a final time.
Once each group of three has been decided, the final game will be determined on a random 50-turn board with computers set to the highest difficulty. Whoever wins is crowned the winner of the Spring 2024 Mario Party CPU Invitational.
